Children’s Mental Health week across Create Partnership Trust

The 6th - 12th February marked Children’s Mental Health week. Children's Mental Health Week is an annual event organized by Place2Be, a leading UK-based children's mental health charity. The week is dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of the importance of children's mental health and emotional wellbeing. The event aims to provide opportunities for children, young people, and adults to engage in discussions, activities, and events that promote good mental health. Through its campaigns, Place2Be seeks to break down the stigma surrounding children's mental health and encourage everyone to prioritize their mental wellbeing.

All 4 schools across the trust were involved in raising awareness around mental health this week, including safe use of the internet on Safer Internet Day (7th February).

Brookfields Primary School helped the children connect by creating a paper chain, with each link representing a child and their individuality. On Safer Internet Day, the school held assemblies helping pupils to be sharp and alert when online.

“As part of Children's Mental Health Awareness Week, we have had a  'Comfy Clothes Day', hoping that the feeling of warmth and cosiness reminds our children of the love they are surrounded by to tie in with the 'Let's Connect' theme this year.  Throughout the week the children have been completing various activities to remind them of their connections and the value of these.  We have asked that families take part in well-being activities at home with their children such as reading, baking, cooking, playing board games etc” - Nahid Shafif, DSL & Inclusion Welfare Support Worker at Conway Primary School.

Greet Primary School enjoyed a dedicated Safer Internet Day assembly on Tuesday, raising awareness around the dangers of being online, and teaching the children life long lessons.

Pupils at Hodge Hill enjoyed activities like a Yoga session with Cosmic Yoga during Children’s Mental Health Week, teaching them about mental and physical wellbeing.

One pupil also shared their thoughts about the dangers of being online.

There were many activities throughout the week, the indoor lunchtime children have connected through making a paper chain full of kindness and wellbeing quotes and the breakfast club children created some wellbeing flags with some great quotes around mental health.
